MARQUETTE, Michigan -- The City of Holland’s Mayor, Kurt D. Dykstra, was honored on October 16, at the Michigan Municipal League’s annual convention.

Mayor Dykstra has been a member of the City Council since 2005 and represented the city’s fifth ward until November 2009 until he was elected as Holland’s 40th mayor. He also serves on the city’s planning commission, elections commission, and was chairperson of the city manager’s search committee. He is senior vice president and the Holland Community President of Mercantile Bank and previously practiced law at a large Grand Rapids-based firm.

The City of Holland has announced that the hours for Halloween Trick-or-Treating will be Friday, October 31, 2014 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Also, Downtown Holland merchants will be hosting Trick-or-Treating events on Saturday, October 25th between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

On September 3, 2014, Holland City Council adopted Resolution of Intent R2014.51 to create a Satellite SmartZone Local Development Finance Authority and schedule a public hearing for October 1, 2014 to consider the establishment of the Authority and the designation of the District.

      HOLLAND - The overnight parking trial period that began on May 15, 2014 will be wrapping up at the end of this month, on Tuesday, September 30, 2014.    At this point, residents will no-longer be able to park between the hours of 2 AM and 5 AM passenger vehicles, motorcycles and trucks overnight on most City streets.  Parking in areas that the trial period did not affect, or in areas where signage indicates otherwise, will not be changed.

     Beginning October 1, 2014, any vehicle found to be parked on City streets between the hours of 2 AM and 5 AM will be subject to the relevant citations and fines.
