The arts heat up in Holland this summer as the Holland Recreation Division once again presents FREE family entertainment throughout the summer months.  "Kollen Park" MUSIC INT THE PARK features a wide variety of quality family performances located in the bandshell in Kollen Park from Noon to 1 PM starting Friday June 12, 2009 and will run every other week.

June 11 - Candy Band, formed in May of 2003, Candy Band is comprised of 4 Detroit area stay-at-home moms that were "sick to death" of whiny music for children.  They took a stand and formed the first kid's band that really rocks!  With a repertoire of covers like Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Sponge Bob and Spiderman and originals like Monsters and Playdoh, the Candy Band is a rock band for kids and parents alike to enjoy!  www.candyband.com

June 25 - Gemini, Twin brothers, Laz and San, write and play acoustic music for children and families, celebrating the fun, warmth, and humor of family life.  Their recordings and concerts are filled with rousing sing-a-longs, folk tales, and music from around the world.  The brothers, also play more than a dozen instruments – guitar, fiddle, mandolin, pennywhistle, harmonica, slide whistles, South American pan pipes, Native American flute and percussion instruments such as the Appalachian lumberjack, spoons, tambourine, African shakers and the “bones”.  www.geminichildrensmusic.com

July 9 - Dilly Songs, Aaron Vande Wege is a singer/songwriter from Rockford, Michigan.  His "Dilly Songs" were created to be both Delightful and Silly songs that are fun for kids.  The songs were written with the child's singing voice in mind and will evoke laughter and giggles.  Picklehead, Herman the Worm, Willie the Pirate, Goldilocks and No More Monkeys (Jumping on the Bed) are all unique Dilly Songs!  Performing for audiences at festivals, elementary schools, pre-schools and bookstores, Aaron delights in creating an interactive delightful silly song sing-a-long!  www.dillysongs.com

August 6 - Harpbeat! Harpbeat!  Celebrates the unique combination of harp and percussion instruments to entertain children.   While singing, moving and laughing with the music, children hear positive messages about themselves and the world we all share.  Harpbeat! brings many exciting aspects of our world to children by featuring foreign and sign languages within the songs.  Musical styles and cultures from Australia to Zaire are explored through traditional and original songs.  www.harpbeat.com
