Van Raalte Farm is named for Holland's founder, Albertus C. Van Raalte, who first explored the area in 1846. The park is located on 160 acres of land with a nineteenth century farmhouse and outbuildings set on a hilltop overlooking a pasture, croplands, a valley, and a stream. (Farmhouse and outbuildings are not open to the public.) During the winter, a sledding hill is open as weather permits. An effort to restore and preserve former wetlands has resulted in the gradual recreation of two ponds in the park. The De Graaf Nature Center conducts several classes here each year.
