Nestled along Lake Macatawa, an inland lake just behind protecting sand dunes rising along Lake Michigan's eastern shore you'll find our city, an oasis of economic prosperity and human diversity.

Diversity
Holland, Michigan was settled by Dutch immigrants in 1847. Today we are a thriving, diverse community. Just as our Tulip Time celebration every May brings forth the beauty of the varied colors of nature, our people are a rainbow of ethnic groups. In addition to Tulip Time, Latin Americans United for Progress (LAUP) sponsors Holland's annual Fiesta celebration on the first day of Tulip Time, and Tulipanes (Latino Art & Film Festival) happens every fall.

Economy
The greater Holland area is home to industries ranging from three of the nation's four largest office furniture manufacturing companies, to international auto parts suppliers, to food processing businesses, to innovative technology companies and everything in between. While not immune from downsizing and plant closings in recent years, hiring trends in the greater Holland area are showing growth in 2005.

Education
Holland offers superior public and private K-12 schools as well as Hope College, a nationally ranked Christian liberal arts college of 3,000 students. Grand Valley State University, Davenport University and Western Theological Seminary all have campuses within the City.

Healthcare
Home to Holland Hospital, residents are never far from excellent medical care. Holland Hospital is currently building a 90,000 square foot expansion which will be completed in 2007.

Recreation
Beautiful parks and beaches abound in Holland. Recreation programs for all ages, a nature center within the city limits, and countless community events offer limitless opportunities for fun and relaxation.

Transportation
With interstate (including public and private bus service), rail, and air transportation serving the community, as well as a harbor connecting us to the Great Lakes and beyond, Holland, Michigan, is indeed a "World Class" community.
