The Holland Area Fire Prevention Council will be hosting the 30th Annual Fire Prevention Week Kickoff Parade and Fire Safety Day. This parade and associated events mark the beginning of our country’s observation of Fire Prevention week. This week is annual the remembrance of the great Chicago fire that occurred on October 10, 1871 and reminds the public of their role in fire prevention. Holland experienced its’ own great fire on this very same day.

The parade is on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 10:00 am in downtown Holland. Routing of the parade will begin at 8th and Columbia, continue west on 8th Street to 9th and eventually terminate at the Kollen Park Fire Station. The fire safety day will begin shortly after the parade at the Kollen Park Fire Station. This event will offer vehicles on display, fire and safety demonstrations and hands on training.
