Originally from Traverse City and Hastings, Michigan, Ryan Cotton has been a professional City Manager since 1986 in the states of Vermont and Michigan.

Ryan was appointed City Manager of the City of Holland, Michigan in 2012 and addressed two major initiatives:  reductions in force that were necessary and steps to implement a Community Energy Plan.

The official budgeting process for fiscal year (FY) 2016 began in January 2015 when the City Council held the annual "Coffee with Council," followed by its annual retreat in January 2015. From the input and outcomes of those public events, the City's Leadership Team,  led by City Manager Ryan Cotton, will be meeting to discuss budgeting scenarios and suggestions.

The City Council will be meeting on April 15th and 16th to discuss the Fiscal Year 2016 budget and the City Manager's proposed budget.

On February 4, 2015, Holland City Council hold a second reading on the proposed amendments to Section 18-27 of Article V of Chapter 18 Motor Vehicles and Traffic Code:

Holland, Michigan –    The City of Holland Public Safety Department and the Human Relations Commission are hosting “Building Strong Communities through Faith” on April 14th.  Patrick Miles will be the guest speaker at the Herrick District Library in the Hazel Hayes Auditorium at 2:00 p.m.  Miles serves as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan.  He was confirmed by the United States Senate on June 29, 2012 and assumed office on July 9, 2012.  He collaborates with communities to foster community partnerships and promote citizen engagement.

This is one of several quarterly educational events being held to bring the community together to learn about the roles that individual citizens and the collective community have as important stakeholders in building and maintaining peaceful and vibrant communities.   The Human Relations Department and the Holland Public Safety wish to invite all citizens to this event.
