City Offices Open Despite Severe Winter Weather
Press release date: Mon Jan 6th, 2014
Despite the severe winter weather, all City of Holland offices are expected to be open today, Monday, January 6, 2014. City Manager Ryan Cotton, in consultation with Mayor Kurt Dykstra, has determined that offices should remain open for business.
As a precaution, however, city employees are permitted to use, at their discretion, paid time off should they determine that commuting to work is too dangerous or family obligations require them to remain at home. Therefore, it is recommended that persons having business with the City of Holland today call the department before venturing out to determine the staffing and service levels available today.
City plows have been busily clearing streets and sidewalks overnight and will continue those efforts throughout the day as conditions require.
As always, residents needing emergency services should dial 911 for all public safety services.
Given the severe cold and winter weather conditions, residents are encouraged to remain indoors if at all possible. Should residents need to be outside, proper precautions should be taken to guard against frostbite and even more serious medical conditions.
