Sidewalk Snow and Ice Removal

Many people rely on walking and transit as their primary way to get around; without a wide, clear path through snow and ice, it is especially hard for people with disabilities, seniors, and children to walk safely.  According to Holland Public School Superintendent, 80% of student population either walk or drive to schools.

The City of Holland would like to remind its residents that Section 32-11 of the City of Holland Municipal Code requires property owners to maintain their sidewalks, including snow and ice removal.

We strongly recommend that property owners do their best to clear their sidewalks of snow and ice in a timely manner in order to avoid any potential liability of injuries that might occur in your neighborhood to members of the public.

Thank you for doing your part to provide safe walking paths for the residents of the City of Holland.
