Paddling Michigan with Doc Fletcher
Date/Time: Sat, Apr 20th 2:00pm
DeGraaf Nature Center
PBS-featured author and life-long Michigan resident, Doc Fletcher presents his canoeing & kayaking program, "Paddle Now. Chores Later". Among the rivers featured will be the Pere Marquette, the subject of Doc's 2013 book. The program will also focus on the U.P.'s Two Hearted River, a gorgeous stream that flows into Lake Superior, and how it was impacted by - and is recovering from - the 2012 May-June "Duck Lake" fire, the 3rd largest fire in Michigan's history.
At the end of Doc's time with us, a free drawing will be held and one person will win a gift certificate good for a free canoe or kayak day trip. Canoe/kayak livery brochures & state maps will be made available to assist program attendees in planning river trips. For those interested, Doc will sign and sell copies of his canoeing and kayaking books. You don't have to be a paddling enthusiast to enjoy the program, but you may become one by the time the program ends. To learn more about Doc's books, go to www.canoeingmichiganrivers.com. Fee: $3 per person. Please register.
