Sugar on Snow
Date/Time: Sat, Mar 1st 2:00pm - 3:00pm
DeGraaf Nature Center
Sugar on Snow! It's an 1800s pioneer treat. You take maple syrup (fresh from the evaporator) and continue to cook it until you pour it over snow (or crushed ice) to make a toffee-like ribbon that is scooped up with fingers or sticks and eaten. This program will begin with a short lesson about maple sugaring - how it's made and some history. Then we will lay out trays of ice to make this treat for everyone. Fee: $3.00 per person or $1.00 for Friends of DeGraaf. Please call to register.
