City of Holland Awarded Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 2013

HOLLAND – Each year, the City of Holland’s Finance Department produces a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30.  For the past 22 years, the City's CAFR has received annual recognition from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada.

To receive recognition, the City must comply with the highest standards for disclosure and provide pertinent trend information beyond that which is required by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board.

A GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was awarded to the Finance Department as the department responsible for preparing the award-wining CAFR and the Award of Financial Reporting Achievement as specifically presented to Tim Vagle, Finance Director and Michelle Price, Assistant Finance Officer.

“Another GFOA award affirms a long-standing priority of assuring Holland’s citizens that their hard earned tax dollars are properly accounted for.  I am appreciative of the hard work by all support staff that made this prestigious award possible” said Vagle.

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motive potential users to read the CAFR, according to a GFOA news release.
