Press release date: Tue Oct 22nd, 2013
During the remainder of October and throughout November, HDPS Fire Services personnel will be conducting annual maintenance and winterization of fire hydrants throughout the City of Holland. During this procedure personnel will flow water from the hydrants to flush any debris that may be present, grease caps, replace identification flags and pump down any water remaining in the hydrant to prevent freezing. Personnel will be utilizing fire department apparatus and working on or near the roadways. Please exercise caution when driving in these areas while personnel are working.
With winter and anticipated snow arriving shortly HDPS Fire Services personnel would like to request that residents and businesses do their best to adopt any fire hydrants that are adjacent to their property and work in collaboration to keep them clear from snow. Doing this keeps them accessible and allows us to readily see them in an emergency when time important.
