Holland apartment fire quickly extinquished at Crown Point

At 2:55 AM this morning, Fire Services personnel were dispatched to a balcony on fire at the Crown Point Apartment Complex.  The resident of apartment #212 called to report his balcony was engulfed in flames and that the fire alarm was being activated.  Responding police and fire personnel assisted the residents of the building in evacuating the remainder of the building.  Fire fighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames and contain the damage to the porch area of one apartment. None of the building residents were displaced by the incident.
Fire damage is confined to the porch area and damaged the siding as well as some structural components exterior to the apartment. Damage is estimated to be approximately $6,000.  The cause of the fire is under investigation however it is not believed to be intentional.
No one was injured during the incident and occupants that were evacuated were readmitted to the building shortly after the fire was extinguished.
Personnel cleared the scene at approximately 4:15 am.
HDPS Fire Services Stations 1, 2 & 3 responded to the call and assistance was received from Holland Police, AMR, and the Graafschap Fire Department.
