Today at approximately 4:10 PM, fire department personnel responded to 437 West 32nd Street for a large amount of smoke coming from the garage attached to the house at this address. First units arrived on scene in less than 5 minutes to find a working fire in the garage. The fire was extinguished shortly after arrival and contained to the garage area of the home. Fire personnel remained on scene for approximately 1 hour to salvage items and remove smoke from the living areas of the residence.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but appears to be accidental in nature. Updates will be available upon completion of the investigation by the Fire Marshal. Damage is estimated to be less than $10,000 and the home is habitable.
Fire personnel received assistance from the Holland Police Department.
