Community Development

The Community Development Office is responsible for the administration of the City's Community Development Block Grant and the Community Social Service Assistance Program.  The administration of these grant programs is provided by City staff who are involved in the following activities:

  • Administer Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Entitlement funds from the U.S. Department of Urban Development to address locally identified community needs.
  • Administer Community Social Services Assistance (CSSA) assistance to outside agencies wishing to contract for public service needs.
  • Prepare the Consolidated Plan to provide a prioritized strategy to direct City of Holland funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Community Social Services Assistance (CSSA) programs
  • Provide Home Repair Assistance for eligible owner-occupied housing to facilitate pride and responisbile homeownership
  • Provide Continuum of Care homeless assstance planning in participation with the OAHC
  • Coordinate local acitivies with the U.S. Census Bureau
  • Provide staff support to the Community Development Committeee which provides citizen oversight for CDBG programs during regularly scheduled meetings.
