Washington Square, between 18th & 19th Street was the first district to partner with the City to morph from an unknown destination destination with sparsely rented stores and crime into a thriving neighborhood. This district holds numerous neighborhood events throughout the year. Following the 1998 Street Reconstruction Project on Washington, the merchants have continued to work on their storefronts. Nearly 100% have utilized the Facade Improvement Program. Very few vacancies remain as a result of regular merchant meetings and encouragement of new businesses that support the existing businesses. Banner projects and flower planting projects keep this area looking great!
