Red Cross Plans Mobile Distribution Route for Ottawa County

As the flood water begins to recede in West Michigan, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Management shifts its efforts toward recovery.  To assist, the American Red Cross is distributing clean-up kits. Kits include mops, scrub brushes, shovels, and cleaning chemicals along with other items to help people once they are able to return to their homes.  In Ottawa County, the kits will be available from American Red Cross vehicles on the following dates and times:

A recently-released report on the water quality of Lake Macatawa has revealed some interesting and unexpected results. 

The City of Holland marks the death of former Mayor William "Bill" A. Sikkel, who passed away on January 3, 2013, after a brief fight with cancer.  Sikkel was mayor from 1983 until 1987, and is fondly remembered as a man of great character and leadership. 

Most city offices, including City Hall, will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.  Have a safe and enjoyable holiday!

The extreme weather of the past few weeks, including high temperatures and lack of rain, has placed a great deal of stress on many elements of our community, including the street trees in front of residences and businesses. The City of Holland is requesting residents and property owners to assist in taking care of their street trees (located in the City right-of-way, typically between the street and sidewalk or immediately adjacent to the street in areas without a curb and/or sidewalk), during this drought-like period by watering them on a regular basis.

Summer in Holland means the return of the Holland Farmers Market! One of the best markets in the Midwest, the Holland Farmers Market, located near the Civic Center at 8th Street and Pine Avenue, is a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike.
