Columbia Avenue Park
Columbia Avenue Park is a 1.4 acre park located at the southeast corner of 12th Street and Columbia Avenue.
Columbia Avenue Park contains public tennis courts and a small shaded lawn area. This park is surrounded on all four sides by Hope College, and is mostly heavily used by college athletic and recreational programs. This park was established in the 1930’s as apart of the federal government work innovative. This was possibly done through Ottawa County, which accepted funding through the Progress Works Administration. At that time the City of Holland had a primarily Republican base and would not accept funding directly through the Democratic Federal Government. However; Ottawa County would accept the funding and distribute it accordingly.
