41 year old in police custody after serious domestic assault

REFERENCE:  Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm

UPDATED BOLD INFORMATION: Lori Ann Pietila, white female, age 41, address 256 W 18th Street, Holland Michigan was arraigned Wednesday afternoon on the charge of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm and her bond was set at $75,000.00 cash or surety. 

The suspect was also given several bond conditions one of which that she is not allowed to have any contact with the victim.  Prosecutor’s issued on the lesser charge charges after reviewing evidence obtained to this point but this charge can be amended in the future as the investigation continues.

Previous Release information:

Holland police were dispatched to the 200 block of W 18th street at approximately 4:30 pm Tuesday afternoon on a check well being.  Officers were advised that an ongoing altercation between two female residents of a group home may have resulted in an assault. 

Officers arrived at the home and knocked for several minutes before the female victim of a serious assault was able to come to the door. Officers immediately began treating the victim for multiple head injuries.  The female suspect was not located at the home but during the course of the investigation she was located at a nearby park and taken into custody.

The victim had been assaulted over the period of approximately an hour and various times was rendered unconscious.  The suspect and victim lived in the home together and had a history of not getting alone together.  The victim received on-scene treatment by Holland Fire personnel and AMR paramedics prior to being transported to Zeeland Community Hospital via AMR.  The 46 year old was admitted to the hospital for various injuries.

Police have charged the 41 year old Holland resident with Attempted Murder and she is being held in the Ottawa County Jail.  The case is pending review by the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office.
