Citizen reporting suspicious activity leads to arrests

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Early Wednesday morning at approximately 4:30 am a Holland resident living at the Baypointe Apartment complex, 791 E 16th Street witnessed two subjects entering into cars parked in the lot and she called 911.  An available patrol officer responded and based on the description given by the caller he was able to locate the two suspects in their own vehicle, still in the apartment complex area.

Holland officers questioned the two subjects and located several stolen items in the suspect vehicle.  It is believed that these subjects are responsible for a number of  larcenies in and around the Holland area.  Holland Police detectives are working with detectives from the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office to clear up several larcenies in their jurisdiction as well. Addtional charges may be issued as a result of this continuing investigation.

In this incident, the Ottawa County Prosecutors Office authorized one charge for each suspect.  The two suspects have been arraigned before the Honorable Judge Bradley Knoll in the 58th District Court in Holland on the following charges:

Supect #1 - Zachery Andrew Ayers, 17 year old from Zeeland, MI - Arraigned on one misdemmeanor count of Malicious Destruction of Property (MDOP) and he was given a $2,000.00 personal recognizance (PR) bond

Suspect #2 - Patrick Bertell Banks, 19 year old from Zeeland, MI - Arraigned on one felony charge of Possession of a Stolen Finanancial Transaction Device and he was given a $2,000.00 PR Bond
