Police investigate altercation that involved shots being fired - UPDATE Suspect ARRESTED

November 14, 2013 - ARREST UPDATE for IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Holland Police and WEMET detectives arrested Donald Winston Cobb, a 27 year Holland Township man for his involvement in this shooting incident. Donald Cobb was arraigned in the 58th District Court on 3 charges - Felonious Assault, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Felony Firearm and he is being held on a $10,000.00 cash/surety bond. Police were able to identify Cobb as the subject involved in an earlier altercation with the intended victim in this incident. That altercation involved a dispute over drugs. Noone was injured in either incident and police continue to investigate the incident.

Thursday evening at around 10:45 p.m. police were called to the area of 17th Street and Central Ave on multiple reports of shots being fired. When police arrived they located a subject who stated that he had been shot at during an altercation while he was driving through the area in his car. Police located shell casings in the area as well that confirmed several shots had been fired. Noone was injured during this altercation.
Originally the victim was cooperative in the investigation and gave police a description of those involved including a vehicle description which resulted in police locating the vehicle that matched the description given by the victim in the area of 16th/US-31. Police conducted a felony stop on that vehicle in the area of 8th Street and Cambridge believing the occupants may been armed. The occupants of that vehicle were detained and the vehicle was searched. When police requested the assistance of the victim in identifying the suspects involved he then refused to cooperate further with police. No handgun was found in the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested for providing police with a false name and also driving without a valid license however the other occupant was released pending further investigation.
