Police need victim to cooperate in shooting incident

REFERENCE: Subject shot – 16th Street and Hazel Ave

At approximately 8:20 pm last night, 07/15/2013, officers were dispatched to a disturbance and a report of a gunshot in the area of 16th and Hazel.  When police arrived there were a few individuals in the area but those involved left prior to police arriving.  Officers determined that a confrontation had occurred between two individuals.  The suspect retrieved a handgun from a vehicle and discharged a single round resulting in the victim receiving a superficial gunshot wound to the hand.  Both the suspect and the victim fled the scene after the incident.

Police were able to develop information through the assistance of detectives from the West Michigan Enforcement Team which resulted in the recovery of the hand gun which is believed to have been used in the shooting.  The weapon was seized from a residence near Pullman.  A possible suspect has been identified however police are still looking to speak to the victim in this incident as well as several witnesses.
