Tulip Festival parades and related events will close several streets and restrict parking on many downtown streets and neighborhoods. Traffic control and detours will be in place but motorists should be aware that normal routes may be affected over the course of the Festival.
The major road closures and detours will occur several hours prior to, during and for a period of time after each parade which occur on Wednesday, May 7, Thursday, May 8 and Saturday May 10. The main northbound route, River Avenue and main southbound route, Pine Avenue will be closed at 8th Street between the hours of 11:30 a.m. until approximately 4:30 p.m. on parade days. In order to reroute traffic around 8th Street, 7th Street which normally is a one way road will be utilized as a two way road with orange barrels marking the divider or "center" line. Traffic during these times will use Lincoln Ave to 16th Street as a detour. Police officers directing traffic will be located at each intersection along 7th Street as well as other key traffic points.
