REFERENCE: Malicious Destruction of Property & Pursuit
UPDATED AT 7-15-13 1700 hrs - Late this afternoon both suspects were arraigned on the following charges. Police are still working on the incident and hoping to seek charges of Malicious Destruction of Property (MDOP) involving the damage to the vehicle and motives surrounding that incident. Anyone with additional information related to this incident is asked to call police.
1. Gregory Joseph Lambers – w/m from Holland Twp, 19 years of age was charged with Felony Fleeing and Eluding, Operating While Intoxicated and his bond was set at $10,000 cash/surety. See mug shot attached to email.
2. Steven Darwin Boeve – w/m from Holland Twp, 19 years of age was charged with a Circuit Court probation violation and Felony Resisting and Obstructing Police and his bond on that charge was set at $15,000.00 cash surety. See mug shot attached to email.
ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE INFORMATION
Holland Police are investigating an incident that occurred at approximately 0345 am Saturday morning near 16th St and Central Ave which resulted in a pursuit and subsequent crash near 16th St and US-31.
At around 0353 am, a Holland Police officer on proactive patrol heard glass breaking in the area of 16th and Central Ave and while attempting to locate the source of the noise came across a vehicle leaving the parking lot where it was later determined a vehicle had been damaged.
The suspect vehicle sped eastbound on 16th Street and a high rate of speed and the officer initiated a pursuit. The suspect vehicle fled east on 16th Street and lost control near 16th St and US-31, ran off the right side of the road striking some landscaping and a motor home for sale in the Holland Motor Home parking lot.
Both occupants of the vehicle fled on foot but both were arrested shortly after. The driver of the vehicle was injured as a result of the crash and was taken to Holland Community Hospital (HCH) for treatment. That suspect was admitted and is being treated for head injuries at HCH. Both suspects were arrested on various charges and will be arraigned likely later today. The identity of the suspects is being held pending arraignment. Both suspects are 19 year old white males who reside in Holland Township.
Police are still investigating the original complaint where a vehicle was damaged near 16th and Central. The owner of the vehicle was awoken by the noise as well and reported the incident. That incident remains under investigation.
