On 5-30-2014 at approximately 10:55 pm officers of the Holland Department of Public Safety were dispatched to the Macatawa Bank, located at 699 E 16th St. in the City of Holland, on a report of a strong armed robbery which had just occurred.
The victim, a 21 year old Holland woman, who is also a clerk at a local gas station, was making a night deposit at the bank related to her employment. While making the deposit she was approached by a male subject who was wearing a bandana covering his face. The male subject grabbed the money bag out of the deposit box and fled on foot, fleeing in a north easterly direction.
A perimeter was immediately set up by HDPS Police officers and a K9 from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist. The K9 track led to the area of a nearby apartment complex where the track was lost.
No weapon was seen or implied in the incident and the victim was not injured. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and tan pants as well as the bandana.
Video from the bank shows a 2nd male individual arriving at the same time as the suspect and is possible an accomplice in the incident. Based on the video this appears to be a heavy set male individual wearing a dark colored t-shirt. Still shots of from the video are attached, although the quality is very poor. The incident remains under investigation by Holland Police Detectives.
