Student Leaders Initiating Change & the Holland Youth Advisory Council put on Summer Social Event.
Student Leaders Initiating Change (SLIC) and the Holland Youth Advisory Council’s (HYAC) Recreation Committee has planned a summer social event for youth to be held on Thursday, June 19 from 8-11:30pm at the Kollen Park Band Shell. The event will include games, food, prizes, music and the showing of “Soul Surfer” at dusk. Event is for all 13-18 year olds and is FREE.
The entire event will start at 8:00pm with games such as ultimate Frisbee, candy walk, Capture the Flag, as well as a scavenger hunt with prizes from Jimmy John’s, Captain Sundaes and Holland 7. Music will be provided by the band Deep Daze before the start of the movie. Holland Rescue Mission will serve ice cream. The movie “Soul Surfer” will be shown at 9:15pm and popcorn will be available. Event should end by 11:30pm. Minors 13-16 years old must be accompanied by an adult after 12midnight.
SLIC & HYAC hope that this event will provide an opportunity for youth from different schools to interact while enjoying themselves in a safe & drug free environment. SLIC’s mission is to encourage youth to live Above the Influence and be substance free. HYAC is supporting them in their efforts. HYAC’s goals are for barriers between school student bodies to be breached. Both groups hope for a sense of community among the youth in Holland to be strengthened at an event that is safe, fun, and free.
