The Commission will present these awards on January 18, 2012 at the 7:00 p.m. City Council Meeting during the week of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday since he dedicated his life to social justice to improve the quality of life for everyone. The Human Relations Commission (HRC) serves to promote amicable relationships among the people of Holland and to prevent discrimination. Many programs and individuals in our community support and reflect this mission by their actions. The HRC would like to recognize and award those who serve our community for the sake of equality and justice.
The Social Justice Award has been established to recognize programs or persons that have provided exemplary service with regard to equality for all.
A total of 5 awards will be presented, one each in the areas of:
Education ♦ Employment ♦ Government/Community Relations ♦ Housing ♦ Youth
The 2011 award nomination deadline is Friday, December 2, 2011. The Human Relations Commission will select its 2011 award recipients at the December 15, 2011 HRC Monthly Meeting.
