The official budgeting process for fiscal year (FY) 2014 began in January when the City Council held the annual "Coffee with Council," followed by its annual retreat in February. From the input and outcomes of those public events, senior City staff (led by City Manager Ryan Cotton) met and discussed budgeting scenarios and suggestions. In early April, Ryan Cotton presented a proposed budget to the City Council for its review and discussion (slides and video of that presentation are below).
As in years past, the City Council met often in early April to discuss the FY14 budget and the City Manager's proposed budget.
On May 1, 2013, in adherence to Section 9.5 of the City Charter, the City Council adopted Resolution (R2013.19) approving the City of Holland and the Holland Board of Public Works fiscal year 2014 (July 1, 2013 - June 30, 2014) budget setting the tax rate at 15.1085 mills.
The entire budget as adopted will be posted as soon as possible - likely in mid-July 2013.
