TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL ORDER
Order No. 2014-T-00033 Effective Date August 8 & 9, 2014
(when official traffic control signs or devices conforming to this order are erected.) In accordance with Section 18-16 of the Holland City Code, the following traffic regulations are issued:
In conjunction with 2014 Downtown Sidewalk Sales, 8th Street will be closed between River and College Ave. from 5:00 a.m. on Friday, August 8 until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014. 8th Street will be blocked off using barricades. Merchant’s tents and canopies will be anchored to the sidewalk/street surfaces with weights and NOT stakes.
The parallel parking spaces on the west side of River Ave from 7th to 9th St will also be used for merchandise display and sales. These spaces will be blocked off using barrels and yellow caution tape. The merchants using these spaces will rope them off for the safety of shoppers.
A twelve foot wide emergency lane must be maintained through the center of the closed Street at all times. The intersections of 8th & College, 8th & Central and 8th & River will remain open to north/south traffic at all times.
Street Dept. personnel will drop off barricades at the corners and barrels by the parallel parking spaces along River Ave. on August 7, 2014. Barricades will be positioned by HPD personnel at 5 a.m. on August 8 and taken down by HPD at 6 p.m. on August 9. Merchants will be responsible for positioning barrels in parallel parking spaces as needed. Barricades and Barrels will be retrieved by the Street Dept. the following Monday.
All participants 12 yrs & under must be accompanied by an adult throughout the event.
Event sponsor will be responsible for the posting & removing of all signs and/or debris associated with the event.
The sponsor of this event will make contact with other organizations holding events along the route (if there are any) so as not to interfere with other venues.
No painting is allowed on the sidewalks or on the roadway.
HPD will be notified of cancellation/changes that may occur by contacting Sgt. Kender at 355-1122 during normal business hours.
