2011-2012 Goals
On-Going
• Participate in Lakeshore Youth Leaders activities.
• Promote the Human Relations Commission’s Youth Social Justice Award, and provide nominations each year.
• Make an annual report to City Council in the spring.
• Continue to raise awareness of HYAC through online resources.
• Continue Peer Refusal Training for middle-schoolers.
• Organize a HYAC camping trip every other year.
• Organize a reunion for HYAC Alumni, every other year.
• Familiarize ourselves with local agencies and businesses.
• Promote the collaboration of local school districts.
• Encourage healthy living and outdoor activity for teens in Holland.
• Host and fund community movie nights.
• Continue to advocate for the Youth Runaway/Homeless Campus.
• Support the Pay-It-Forward Program.
• Organize a special City-wide event each year.
Short Term
• Promote diversity education in Holland.
• Promote efforts to "Go Green" in Holland.
• Show-case youth talent in Holland.
Intermediate
• Encourage communication with youth in our Sister-City Queretaro (i.e. create a web-chat).
• Support local organizations in their efforts to aid teen parents.
• Support the on-going development of a youth section in the newspaper.
Long Term
• Advocate for the support program for young entrepreneurs.
• Promote international youth awareness.
• Explore strategies to reduce local school dropout rates.
