Raise Your Voice is a program designed by HYAC's Social Services Subcommittee where high school students teach middle school students peer refusal skills. The high school students in this program are trained on how to teach middle school students effectively.
After training, the high school students are put into groups based on where they go to school. In these groups, students practice their lesson which includes skits, short speeches, visual aids, games, and candy. In March, the high school students teach their lesson to schools in the Holland area.
Raise Your Voice teaches sixth graders how to say no to everything from stealing to drinking in a way that won’t cost them their friends.
