HYAC (Holland Youth Advisory Council) consists of the Core Council and four subcommittees: Marketing, Recreation, Social Services, and Special Events.
• Marketing Subcommittee: The Marketing Subcommittee works to promote HYAC and other leadership opportunities to its peers. Members of the Marketing Subcommittee use social networking, website development, public service announcements, and other forms of media to encourage youth participation and awareness.
• Recreation Subcommittee: The Recreation Subcommittee's main focus is to make the city more youth-friendly. In the past, members of the Recreation Subcommittee have planned a middle school bowling night, promoted the creation of an outdoor ice-skating rink, and held an outdoor movie series in local parks.
• Social Services Subcommittee: The Social Services Subcommittee addresses issues of social concern to youth and the Council. In 2007-2008, the Social Services Subcommittee began implementing a substance abuse curriculum for middle school students taught by high school students called, Raise Your Voice. The program continues to be a success today.
• Special Events Subcommittee: The Special Events Subcommittee plans various special events for the community, often to promote concerns relevant to local youth (i.e. raising money for the Homeless Youth Task Force). In the past, members of the Special Events Subcommittee have planned a Youth Expo, a Teen Summit, and a Homeless Youth Benefit.
