Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT)

Crisis Negotiation Team Standing in a FieldThe Holland Department of Public Safety (HDPS) Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) consists of six police officers. The team is utilized for barricaded subjects, hostage situations, suicidal subjects and other incidents where negotiations would be useful. The CNT works on a call-out basis.

Schools

CNT members have attended training at several schools including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Michigan State Police, Michigan Association of Hostage Negotiators (MAHN) and the Public Agency Training Council.

Training

The Team trains regularly to hone their negotiation and communication skills. Training involves scenarios, speakers, tabletop discussions and videos. They also train annually with the Special Enforcement Team (SET).
