Why is there a lane closure on Pine Avenue across from Brewers City Dock that connects to Lake Macatawa?
The Lake levels fluctuate significantly and when Lake Mac is high the lane furthest east on Pine fills up with water. It’s a danger to motorists hydroplaning and even more so for motorcyclists. The ponding in the lane fluctuates (by the hour) so there are times when you won’t see any water in the lane and other times when the whole lane is full. In the interest of safety, we are leaving the lane closed. United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is projecting lake levels to start coming down at the end of this month, we will be monitoring and hope to pull the lane closure after we can verify lake levels are dropping.
