CITY OF HOLLAND

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL ORDER

Order No.  2019-T-000059               Effective Date December 3, 2019                      
(when official traffic control signs or devices conforming to this order are erected.)

In accordance with Section 18-16 of the Holland City Code, the following traffic regulations are issued:

On Tuesday, December 3, 2019, the Downtown Holland Principal Shopping District is sponsoring the Annual Parade of Lights.  Parade begins on 8th St. at Columbia Ave. and ends at 8th and Maple.  It should be noted that 8th Street will be closed to traffic from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm during the parade and No Parking will be allowed along the parade route.

PARADE STAGING AREA – Columbia Avenue; 8th – 10th Streets

                                                  10th Street; Lincoln to River Avenue

                                                   8th Street; Lincoln to Columbia Avenue                                      

NO PARKING ALLOWED -  Effective starting at 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

                                                  Columbia Avenue; 8th – 10th Streets

                                                  10th Street; Lincoln to River Avenue

                                                   8th Street; Lincoln to Maple Avenues

                                                   Maple Avenue; 8th – 9th Streets

ROAD CLOSURES - 

  • 8th Street; Lincoln – Maple Avenues from 6:30 – 8:00 pm
  • 9th Street; Pine to Washington Avenues, will be closed to traffic as parade participants exit the parade route.
  • Pine Avenue; 7th – 9th Streets will be closed to traffic until the parade has ended and all participants have left the area.
  • Maple Avenue; 8th – 9th Streets

 Special Instructions:  

  1.  Sponsor will pay Reserve Officers to assist with event.  A minimum of 2 hours each at $22/hour.  The sponsor will also pay for police cruisers needed during the event at a cost of $22/hour.
  2.  If sponsor needs barricades and/or parking restrictions, there will be a $22/hour fee charged; minimum of 1 hour.
    Any participants 12 years and under must be accompanied by an adult.
  3. The sponsor of the event will be responsible for the posting and removing of all signs and/or debris associated with the event.
  4. The sponsor of this event will make contact with other organizations holding events along the route (if there are any) so as not to interfere with other venues or businesses.
  5. No painting is allowed on the sidewalks or on the roadway.
  6. HPD will be notified of cancellations/changes that may occur by calling Sgt. Kender at 355-1122 during normal business hours.
  7. The sponsor in charge of this event will also provide volunteers at some intersections who shall wear a reflective vest.
