This morning at about 7:30 a.m. officers and firefighters of the Holland DPS responded to the area of the 46 mm on I-196 for a report of an injury crash.
First responders located a vehicle which had crashed into a commercial building at 80 W 64th St. Suite 200.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle, a 2020 Toyota Camry, had been travelling on West I-196 when it struck a deer. The deer impacted and went through the windshield into the passenger compartment, striking both passengers inside the vehicle. The vehicle then went off the roadway, through the right-of-way fence and came to a rest after impacting the building.
Paramedics from AMR transported both passengers to Holland Hospital. Both were later transferred to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital.
The driver is a 55 year old man and the passenger is a 60 year old female, both from the city of Wyoming.
It does not appear at this time that either alcohol or speed were a factor.
