Holland BPW Offers New Rebates on Energy-Efficient Appliances

By:  Jennifer Soukhome - Holland Board of Public Works

In a move toward a sustainable future, Holland Board of Public Works now offers residents a new opportunity to electrify their homes while saving on energy bills. With a new $100 rebate on heat pump dryers and a $75 rebate on induction cooking appliances, Holland BPW empowers households to make the switch to energy-efficient alternatives.

Heat Pump Dryers

Traditional dryers are notorious energy hogs, guzzling electricity and increasing your energy bill.

Enter the heat pump dryer: A game-changer that utilizes advanced technology to recycle heat, reducing energy consumption by 25 percent!

Heat pump dryers also operate at lower temperatures, which is gentler on fabrics. This can extend the lifespan of clothing by reducing wear and tear caused by high heat. And because heat pump dryers operate at lower temperatures, they don’t put out large amounts of heat into the home, which keeps the home cooler during the summer.

Heat pump dryers do not require a vent, offering more installation flexibility. They can be placed in various locations within a home, including closets and areas without direct access to an exterior wall.

With Holland BPW’s $100 rebate, making the switch not only pampers your clothes, it also helps pamper your wallet.

 Induction Cooking

Say goodbye to the old flame and welcome induction cooking into your kitchen.

Induction cooking appliances use electromagnetic technology to heat pans directly, providing faster cooking times and precise temperature control. Induction cooktops are generally more energy-efficient than gas and standard electric resistance cooktops. They directly heat the cookware through electromagnetic induction, resulting in less wasted heat released into the surrounding environment.

Also, induction cooktops are considered safer than gas because they don’t produce an open flame and safer than electric resistance because the cook surface remains cool to the touch. Plus, an induction cooktop only works when the pan is on the burner, therefore, you can’t forget to shut off the appliance.

Holland BPW has a $75 rebate on any type of induction cooking appliance.

Making the switch to energy-efficient electric appliances isn’t just about cost savings – it’s about embracing a greener, cleaner lifestyle. Gas appliances contribute to indoor air pollution which can directly affect your health.

By choosing energy-efficient alternatives, you are taking a proactive step toward reducing your carbon footprint. Reducing emissions helps Holland achieve the goals in its Community Energy Plan. By offering these rebates, Holland BPW aims to encourage residents to make choices that benefit both their wallets and the environment.

To claim your rebate, purchase a qualifying heat pump dryer or induction cooking appliance. Visit hollandbpw.com/rebates and fill out the rebate application.

Do you want to try out induction technology before you commit?  Holland BPW has provided an induction hot plate to Herrick District Library’s “Library of Things” (herrickdl.org/library-of-things/) so you can try before you buy.
