At 12:58 PM firefighters from the Holland Department of Public Safety were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at Addington Place at Lakeside Vista. A fire was reported to be in the kitchen and involved cooking equipment. Fire units arriving on scene at 1:04 PM encountered smoke in the living areas and a contained fire in the kitchen of Building 1. Firefighters quickly entered the area, extinguished the fire and began the process of ventilating smoke from the building.
As a result of the fire and subsequent smoke 30 residents and 9 staff members were temporarily displaced from the building while the fire was extinguished, confirmed out and smoke was evacuated. There were no injuries to residents, staff or responding firefighters.
Firefighters received assistance from American Medical Response in relocating residents to an unaffected part of the building. The Graafschap Fire Department assisted in providing response coverage while Holland units were committed on scene.
