[ARCHIVED] Man arrested after Pursuit this weekend

On 4/20/2024, just before 9:30 p.m. officers of the Holland Department of Public Safety responded to a residence on Ramblewood Ct., in the Meadow Lanes Townhomes complex, for a report of a domestic assault.  Officers responded and spoke to the victim, a 40 year old woman from Holland, who reported that her boyfriend, a 31 year old Holland man, had assaulted her at the residence.

The male subject had left the residence prior to officers arrival.  Officers located the suspect vehicle parked at on Cabill Dr., off M-40. Officers were able to see a single occupant of the vehicle and upon attempting to contact the subject, the vehicle began to leave. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled, turning onto West I-196 from M-40. Officers continued to pursue for a few a couple miles until the suspect utilized an “Authorized Vehicle Only” turn around in the median, entering onto east bound  I-196, but continued travelling west bound. Due to the vehicle being on the wrong side of the highway the pursuit was terminated. The description was provided to Allegan County.

Allegan County Deputies later located the vehicle on I-196 headed back to Holland. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle but it again failed to stop. The vehicle came into Holland City, returned to the Meadow Lane complex and headed back to the residence, where Holland Officers were still on scene. As the vehicle approached the residence the driver accelerated and drive into the side of the townhouse. The concrete steps leading up to the door stopped the vehicle so that the only portion of the structure struck was the concrete.  He was taken into custody and later transported to Holland Hospital for complaints of injuries received when he crashed his car. After being discharged he was lodged for Domestic Assault and OWI.

The victim had minor injuries and sought her own transportation to the Holland Hospital for treatment.

The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment.
