At 5:54 PM on Friday, November 6, the Holland Department of Public Safety was called to investigate a shooting. The victim, a 26 year old male, was taken to Holland Community Hospital for a gunshot wound to the chest. At the time of this report the victim is in stable condition.
The victim was walking with another individual south on Maple Avenue on the east side of the road between 18th Street and 19th Street. A white midsize sedan was seen traveling south on Maple Avenue and a shot was fired from the vehicle hitting the victim in the chest. The white midsize sedan was last seen south on Maple Avenue from 19th Street. Upon being shot, the victim collapsed and an unrelated party driving by picked the victim up and transported him to Holland Community Hospital a few short blocks away.
Police were able to identify a group of younger males who were also walking in the area and witnessed the incident but are getting limited cooperation. This is not believed to be an incident of random violence and police are asking for anyone who may have knowledge of this incident to contact authorities.
