This morning at about 4:00 a.m., two officers of the Holland Department of Public Safety located a subject sleeping on the steps of the Herrick District Library, who was known to the officers to have several warrants for his arrest. The subject, a 30-year-old Holland man, was not compliant with the officers when told he was under arrest for the warrants.
The officers attempted to secure the suspect, but he began to resist and was combative with the officers. During the struggle one of the officers sustained an injury to his shoulder. Additional officers responded to assist and the suspect was finally secured.
The suspect was lodged at the Ottawa County Jail for Resisting and Obstructing an Officer Causing Injury, Resisting and Obstructing an Officer as well as the warrants.
The officer was treated and released at Holland Hospital, being referred to a specialist for the injury to his shoulder.
