What You’ll Need to Estimate Your Property Taxes:

To get an accurate estimate, have the following information on hand:

  • Taxable Value

  • County

  • City, Village, or Township

  • School District

  • Millage Rates

What Is a Millage Rate?

A millage rate is the amount of tax you pay per $1,000 of Taxable Value on your property.

Example:
If your property has a Taxable Value of $100,000 and a total millage rate of 40.0000, your tax bill would be:

($100,000/1,000) 40.0000 = $4,000

Where Do Millage Rates Come From?

Millage rates are set by various taxing authorities, and most millage increases are voted on by the public and cannot be raised without voter approval.
