The Environmental Committee just finished a beach clean-up at Holland State Park on October 2nd. The group picked up 8.5 lbs. of debris and garbage that littered the park. The majority of the litter was 49% of it was plastic; 25% of it was paper/cardboard; 1% of it was glass and 25% of it was other things such as a wire hanger, rope, masks, and a pair of pants.
Next the committee is turning into sleuths. We are on a discovery of finding out how many restaurants on 8th Street serve plastic straws.
