C.R.A.S.E.
CRASE training equips individuals with critical skills and strategies to respond effectively during active shooter situations, enhancing personal and community safety.
What it is:
CRASE is an educational course that provides strategies, guidance, and a plan for surviving an active shooter event. It was developed by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) at Texas State University.
What it teaches:
CRASE teaches the Avoid/Deny/Defend (ADD) strategy, which is an easy-to-remember method for individuals to follow. The training also covers:
- The human stress response
- Accountability in schools
- Common myths like “hide and hope” and “playing dead”
- How concealed handgun permit holders should react before and during law enforcement arrival.
Who it’s for:
CRASE is available to local businesses, organizations, and civilians
How it helps:
CRASE helps individuals:
- Develop situational awareness and mental preparedness
- Quickly decide to take action
- Become more aware of their surroundings and environment

There is no cost to attend, but registration is required and all participants must be at least 18 years of age.
